Eye Tracking without Eyes!
Ok, it sounds a little odd, but it’s actually pretty interesting. A company called “Attention Wizard” has created some software that runs some “advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to simulate human visual processing and attention” know as ‘eye tracking’ over a website screen shot.
Below is a test run on their site.
Yes, their site and brand needs some serious design help, but their software functions so I like them.
THE TEST
I took a site that I had done some user testing on and ran it through Attention Wizard’s free “lite” report. You can do one report per day with the lite report, after that there is a fee and either I don’t understand their pricing structure or it’s a little pricey!
Here is the feedback I got on a website I built a few months ago for an artist.
Artificial intelligence eye tracking report:

Result:The artificial eye tracking seems pretty spot on with my previous user testing of the Casey Hurt website. Interesting to note, the graphics in the header where the artist, Casey Hurt is holding balloons gets a lot of attention though it is not a button or a call to action. Over all I like the tool and I think I will try it out on future projects.
